Citizens Advice Cheshire West is encouraging people to find out more about switching energy supplier to see if they can get a better deal.
Our local advisor, Gaynor, will be available on Monday 22nd January to provide information on switching. She will also be making appointments available if residents need further help.
Citizens Advice Cheshire West is part of Big Energy Saving Week – a joint campaign between Energy Saving Trust, the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Citizens Advice. It is the 7th campaign of it’s kind. The week focuses on raising public awareness of how to switch energy supplier or tariff to get the best deal, access discounts and make homes energy efficient.
MYTH:
You can't change energy supplier if you have a prepayment meter
BUSTED:
If you have a prepayment meter, you'll be able to switch supplier unless you owe your supplier more than £500 for gas or electricity
Liz Dickinson, Head of Service Development at Citizens Advice Cheshire West said: “By shopping around and switching to a different energy deal consumers can cut hundreds of pounds from their gas and electricity bills. Whether you own your home or rent it, and regardless of whether you have a prepayment meter, there are savings to be made. "That's why Citizens Advice Cheshire West is taking part in Big Energy Saving Week to help people find the cheapest deal.
MYTH:
The ‘Big 6’ energy suppliers offer the best deals – smaller suppliers are more expensive (the Big 6 energy suppliers are: E.ON, Npower, British Gas, SSE, EDF Energy and Scottish Power)
BUSTED:
It’s best to shop around to find the best deal. You can use an accredited price comparison website to compare prices from different energy suppliers.
Help and information will be available, face to face on Monday 22nd January at Neston Community Youth Centre
