Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week with the theme of 'loneliness' and we want to make sure you know what we're doing all year round to support people's Mental Health.

Neston Angels matches people who are lonely or isolated with volunteers who will visit them, attend activities with them and support them to build social networks that break the cycle of loneliness. Find out more about registering for a befriender or to become a volunteer here...

We work directly with local GP's to provide the Neston & Willaston Social Prescribing Service.

There are some things that require support alongside medicine or even instead of. The causes of loneliness, isolation, depression, anxiety etc are sometimes more social than medical. Our Social Prescriber works with people to identify the root causes, set an action plan and improve their health and wellbeing. This service is available to anyone, over the age of 18, who is registered with Neston Surgery, Neston Medical Centre or Willaston Surgery. Find out more here...

There are a range of support groups and activities delivered by ourselves, our partners and others which can support people to build connections - the enemy of loneliness.

At Neston Community Youth Centre on Burton Road, there are a range of activities that can help you stay active and stay connected. From Dance, Drama and Languages to Crochet & Craft, and Yoga & Pilates there are loads of things to try where you can meet new people. Find out more here...

There are lots of organisations here to help including Job Centre, Children's Centre, Foodbank and Citizens Advice. All of these can be accessed via our website at Services | Neston Community Youth Centre | Little Neston (nestoncyc.org.uk)

Finally, every year we work with Hip & Harmony CIC to bring large scale community events to our town and this year we're back with a bang! Our first events are below

We will need help to deliver these events safely and we will be looking for volunteers to help, another great way of fighting loneliness and staying well.
