Our fundraising campaign, Love Neston: Raise the Roof was launched at the sold out event 'When I'm 64' on Saturday 2nd November and what an event it was!
Celebrating 64 years since The Beatles performed in CH64 at Neston Civic Hall when it was known as The Institute, it was an evening full of music, singing and 'did you know' facts from compere Paula Prytherch. A huge thanks to Geoff Wright for all the facts!
We were treated to performances from The 64 N'ukes, Theo Jay, Erica and Ian Harwood, Simple Folk, Kenny & The Energy, Col & Sye, Grace Prytherch and The Remnants.
A massive thanks goes to all the performers, technical team and wonderful volunteers who made the event possible. Everyone gave their time for free to raise much needed funds for our fundraising campaign.
When I'm 64 was the first of many fundraising events under the Love Neston: Raise the Roof fundraising campaign. Coming up we have a Christmas raffle, a new year wag and walk, opera night and much more. Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates!
What is Love Neston: Raise the Roof
The fundraising campaign aims to:
Strengthen the feeling of community in Neston
Raise awareness of the services available in Neston
Promote why Neston is a great place to live
Raise money to improve the infrastructure of the town
The first initiative of the campaign is to raise the funds needed to save Neston Civic Hall. The hall requires extensive repair work to the roof, insulation and heating system. If we cannot raise the £240,122 to carry out the repair work we will be forced to close it, meaning an uncertain future for this much loved building. This would be a devasting blow for Neston, the Civic Hall is steeped in history and holds fond memories for many people. It is the perfect venue for amateur dramatics, family parties and more.
We intend on raising the funds in 4 ways:
A special grant of £60,000 from Neston Town Council - this represents a quarter of what we need to raise and will strengthen capital funding applications as we can demonstrate cash match funding.
Applying to capital funders for grants to fund the repair work.
A Just Giving page - we have set up a JustGiving page for donations to the campaign.
Holding fundraising events - we are holding several fundraising events of which ticket sales will go towards the fundraising efforts.
